A blog that centers around the CT/NYC scene at Bulls Bridge and the adventures of the extended whitewater family in the area. Not always whitewater, not always the Housatonic, but most of the time.....

Do you have a boat for T'ville?
TvilleTripleCrown.com

Ideally, you'd have a composite slalom boat, a composite wildwater boat, and (these days) a composite freestyle boat.
In reality, most people will have all plastic.
Ok to race your plastic freestyle boat, plastic slalom boat, and plastic freestyle boat.
Since there is so much focus on the overall scoring, if you choose to be in all three events, it's ok to break out the old school boat for the wildwater section, and perhaps even the slalom section.
You can even use your creek boat for these.
I'm sure that you can get a few spins and an ender in an old long boat or your creek boat.
So, don't worry about having the perfect boat. Just come on out and participate. You never know.
After taking part in the Triple Crown, you might just look back on it as the discovery of some new aspect of whitewater that you never before realized was fun.

DragoRossi Thruster video
the video should be embedded, but just in case your browser needs updating, here is the address
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hKfR8AAAfA
since ARTandWATER is all out of Thrusters until winter
(don't worry, you can still order directly from the factory and have the boat shipped to your door)
I thought I'd at least put up this fun freestyle footage found on YouTube
if you want to be the boat from the factory, send an email to info@dragorossi.com
or visit the website http://www.dragorossi.net

Smooth Ledge, Rapid River, Maine
I met up with a couple of my friends in Errol, NH on Friday night and we hiked into Smooth Ledge on the Rapid River in Maine on Saturday.

It's a nice place for park and play with a long runout, warm water, and smooth rock ledges to sun, socialize, and generally hang out for the day.

Here's Jeff Marquis sliding into Smooth Ledge for a bit of surfing action.

Look at Pat "mayor" Taft ripping it up with his hand paddles.

Smooth Ledge is a really friendly hole at 1300 with a good shoulder for surfing and a nice pocket for throwing down.

We ran into alot of local rippers, including Maine-native Chuck Mathieu.

I did put the camera down and jump into my boat for a few sessions too.

When the spot got a little crowded around lunch time we took inspiration from the cruisers and made the easy hike up a dirt road to the top of the three pitches. (then of course we went right back to surfing one of the best park and play features in the New England)

Fish details
specs
the performance version comes standard with side grabloops, bow/stern foam pillars, and a performance seat.

here is a better view of the performance seat where you can see the screw inserts that accept the optional thigh wings. also notice the recessed area in front of the seat for a waterbottle or throw rope

here you will notice that the performance seat is like a low-back testarossa seat. This gives you the option to pad out the back and make a super comfortable race seat, or add your favorite brand of backband for a more standard feel.

note: two major differences between testarossa seat and the performance seat are (1)testarossa seat is raised 2" off the hull and the performance seat is only about 3/4" off the hull. (2) the testarossa seat has a high, solid back piece for increased contact and control from the paddler, while the performance seat has a more comfortable lower back that allows for a more traditional feel.

final note: the drainplug is an added option that costs $11 some people want it, some don't

there are many accessories that can be bought, in addition to the Performa seat system

DragoRossi makes a simple ratchet backband that is easy to install.
many other brands can be installed in minutes too.

here is the DragoRossi foot sled. it relieves pressure on your toes and allows you to have an adjustable foot system that you can crank up when you need it, and loosen it up for the mellow sections.

of course some people just prefer a foam bulkhead. That works well to.

which ever system you prefer, the first step will be to remove the set screw from the bow of the boat, the one that holds the foam pillar in place

then you can remove the bow pillar and install your footblock, heel sled, airbag, foam block, whatever you are going to use

remember to put the foam pillar back, and insert the screw again; then you'll be all set!

buy and install the thigh wings for increased control and performance. Installation is very simple
